This Week in VMI Athletics - Nov. 22

Well, we got the feedback we were looking for, and the blog will continue. Hopefully we can come up with some new ways to use this feature, but until we do, let's quickly review recent happenings here on Post.

There haven't been many. Football suffered a heartbreaking loss to Old Dominion yesterday...It was a very tough season for the Keydets, with four of VMI's nine losses being decided by seven points or less.

With that, we turn attention to basketball, which currently sits at 2-1 after a 19-point win over West Virginia Wesleyan last week. As Coach Baucom tweeted after the game (and I'll give the exact quote to you), "hopefully we will start shooting the ball well. we r still young & a work in progress." The roundballers return to the hardwood on Tuesday, taking on UNC Wilmington down in North Carolina. The next game at Cameron Hall, which is actually the next home event on post, isn't until Nov. 30 against Lynchburg College. That's a 7 p.m. start, and will be the last game before Dec. 3's conference opener against Coastal.

Wrestling competed at the Keystone Classic today, posting a single placewinner (John Pope - 125). You can read Coach Trudgeon's words here, as he is clearly disappointed with today's outing.

Work has begun on both the track and field and wrestling media guides...Don't want to raise too many expectations, so I'll hold my comments on that to just revealing that news. However, we're very excited about this year's products, and we hope you will be too. No release dates yet though.

Speaking of track, they are preparing for their opener Dec. 3 over in Lynchburg. If you're interested in attending, you can find all the needed info here. Of course, track's sister sport, cross country, just wrapped up its season, and we put a video recap with Coach Spangler. That's accessible here.

I do believe that'll do it...With so few events, I'm not sure you'll see much from us on the blog next week, unless there's breaking news, but the blog as a whole will continue. Again, thank you for your feedback, as it is very appreciated. A Happy Thanksgiving to all, and thank you for reading This Week in VMI Athletics.
